I just went to my local gamestop and when I plugged it in at home luckily the PS3 had a compatible serial number and the firmware wasn't too high yet, so I upgraded it to the 4.82 firmware (necessary for jailbreaking) and it was pretty easy from there.įeel free to ask me here or PM me if you have any questions You need to make sure the PS3 can be jailbroken (depends on serial # and firmware version).

I wanted to dump a lot of old sports games and some of them just aren't popular so they aren't on that site (for example, the EU version of NHL 12 is there but the NA version of NHL 12 is missing, so I need an actual PS3 to dump that game). If there is even one game you want to dump that does NOT have an IRD file on that website, you will need to buy a PS3. From there it's pretty straightforward as you can just follow the dumping guide in the quickstart guide This seems to be the best one available right now as most of the other compatible models are discontinued. You are better off getting a compatible Blu Ray drive. If the every game you need is listed there (make sure to double check that the region is correct (usually have "US" int he id number for NA releases and "ES" for EU releases) then you do NOT need a PS3. All you need to do is select your drive in the dropdownbox and click "START".First of all check this site. If you are not sure about doing it yourself, you can get yourself a 'Single Drive Flasher' (choose the WH16NS60_1.02-MK one) from my new website (link in my signature) which will automatically perform the required checks for you before flashing the drive. The recommended firmware for that model is WH16NS60 1.02-MK.

Your drive does currently have encrypted firmware on it though. Yep, that drive is flashable to enable UHD ripping. I have attached a screenshot of MakeMKV with drive information if that helps. Is it possible for me to rip 4k UHD discs using this specific drive? The guides made me very wary of trying to flash firmware without checking thoroughly. I did not know 4k Blu-Ray discs existed until after I purchased the drive and I am interested in buying some movies in that format.

I purchased a WH14NS40 ( ) and used MakeMKV to rip a whole bunch of DVDs and standard Blu-Ray discs for my personal emby server.
